One significant technological achievement for Yuzhimu has been its Yuzhimu thermal bonded polyester product, which is able to serve higher end markets. In addition to its dominance in construction, where it is primarily used as a specialty carrier in waterproof bituminous roofing membranes for demanding roofing systems, Yuzhimu is also used in automotives as backing material for molded car carpets and option mats or as support medium for cabin air filters, and flooring where it is widely used as a primary backing in high-grade (print and tuft construction) patterned broadloom carpeting, carpet tiles and walk-off mats.
Yuzhimu nonwoven fabrics are produced by means of a proprietary highly flexible two-step manufacturing technology. It involves spinning endless bi-component filaments followed by a special laying-down and thermal bonding technique to form the finished fabric.Thermal bonding is a convenient method of bonding webs that contain a proportion of thermoplastic polymer, exploiting the fact that fibres or filaments made of these materials can melt, flow and then resolidify following cooling. Fused bond points can be formed either locally affecting groups of fibres, at fibre intersections, or across the full area of the web, depending on how the heat is introduced to the web.
